KNOXVILLE MUSEUM OF ART
1050 Worlds Fair Park Dr, Knoxville, TN 37916
“The Knoxville Museum of Art, is an art museum in Knoxville, Tennessee. It specializes in historical and contemporary art pieces from the East Tennessee region.” - Wikipedia
This relatively small museum had some wonderful pieces of art. The lobby featured a huge piece (in two parts) by Richard Jolley called “Cycle of Life.” There were three exhibitions on the lower level, “Facets of Modern and Contemporary Glass” and “Throne Miniature Rooms” are both permanent parts of the museum, while “Frutos Latinos 2023” is a temporary exhibit displaying work of local Latino/Latinx artists to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The middle level was closed as they prepared a new exhibit to be opened soon. And the upper level had two exhibits, “Currents: Recent Art from East Tennessee and Beyond” and “Jane Cassidy: Drink Up the Moon.” I found some interesting pieces in each of the exhibits, even without recognizing any of the artist’s names.
This free museum was well worth the time I spent there.
