SUNSPHERE in World’s Fair Park
810 Clinch Ave, Knoxville, TN 37902
“The Sunsphere located in World’s Fair Park in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, is a 266-foot-high hexagonal steel truss structure, topped with a 75 ft gold-colored glass sphere that served as the symbol of the 1982 World's Fair.” - Wikipedia
Since it was listed as one of the top things to do in Knoxville, I made time to go up the Sunsphere to check out the views of the city and surrounding area. My reaction afterwards…been there, done that, don’t need to do it again. It was interesting to look out over the city from this vantage point, but for the most part I had no idea what I was looking at. I thought there might have been signs telling visitors what direction they were looking, and possibly pointing out some of the places we were looking at…but there was nothing. I was left guessing where the Great Smoky Mountains were, among other places. That said, if you are a first-time visitor to Knoxville, I would recommend this as a stop. The World’s Fair Park surrounding the Sunsphere was fun to walk around.
