NASHVILLE ZOO
3777 Nolensville Pk, Nashville, TN 37211
“The Nashville Zoo at Grassmere is a zoological garden and historic plantation farmhouse located 6 miles southeast of Downtown Nashville. As of 2014, the zoo was middle Tennessee's top paid attraction and contained 6,230 individual animals, encompassing 339 species. The zoo's site is approximately 188 acres in size.” - Wikipedia
Walking into the Nashville Zoo I first saw some beautiful Hyacinth Macaws followed by some Gibbons in a wooded exhibit using the natural landscape rather than man-made structures and I was thinking this is going to be a great day. For some reason, in the end the zoo did not live up to those first high expectations. There were some great exhibits, and I got some good photos, I was just expecting more. To be fair, it was a cool/cold, cloudy day, so some of the animals were off exhibit, like the Komodo Dragon, and some animals like the Lemurs, Red Pandas, and Clouded Leopards were quite active, but I didn’t find enough to impress me, at least on this trip.
If I am in the area again I would go check it out again to see if my first impressions were wrong.
