MONTGOMERY MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS
1 Museum Drive, Montgomery, AL 36117
“The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is a museum located in Montgomery, Alabama, USA, featuring several art collections. The permanent collection includes examples of 19th- and 20th-century American paintings and sculpture, Southern regional art, Old Master prints and decorative arts.” Wikipedia
Listed as one of the top things to do in Montgomery, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts lived up to its billing. The museum was founded in the 1930s and moved into its current building in 1988. The beautiful building is perfect for showcasing what the museum has to offer.
The main collection consists mainly of works by early American artists with some modern pieces thrown in. There is also a nice collection of porcelains and some studio glass works that were stunningly beautiful. An outdoor sculpture garden has some interesting pieces. I enjoyed my time strolling through the museum taking in its collection. Admission was free, which is also a nice touch.
