HIGH MUSEUM OF ART

1280 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30309

“The High Museum of Art is an art museum in Atlanta, Georgia in the Southeastern United States. Located on Peachtree Street in Midtown, the city's arts district, the High is a division of the Woodruff Arts Center. The High Museum of Art's permanent collection includes more than 18,000 artworks across seven collecting areas: African art, American art, decorative arts and design, European art, folk and self-taught art, modern and contemporary art, and photography. More than one-third of the High's collection was acquired after the museum announced its plans for expansion in 1999.” Wikipedia

I really don’t know what to say about the High Museum of Art, other than it is a must see in Atlanta. I knew I was in for a treat when the first exhibit I visited, “Gatecrashers: The Rise of the Self-Taught Artist in America” where I found paintings of Anna Mary Robertson, better known as “Grandma” Moses.

I was only able to spend about two hours at the museum, and I know that I rushed through some exhibits and completely missed others. I can’t wait to return to Atlanta so I can spend more time exploring the amazing collection of the High.
