FORT WORTH ZOO
1989 Colonial Pkwy, Fort Worth, TX 76110
“The Fort Worth Zoo is a zoo in Fort Worth, Texas, United States, that was founded in 1909 with one lion, two bear cubs, an alligator, a coyote, a peacock and a few rabbits.” - Wikipedia
Before going to the Fort Worth Zoo I read on its website they were in the middle of a construction project and therefore their lions, tigers, hyenas and zebras were on hiatus. I was a little worried about what I was going to find, however, in the end I had a pleasant visit.
The zoo probably has one of the largest collection of birds I’ve seen at a zoo. I mean, there were four different species of Flamingos. It seemed everywhere I went there was a bird of some type. This is a good thing, especially for a person who loves birds. Being able to capture a picture of a Hummingbird was fun, even if it wasn’t while it was flying.
MOLA, or the Museum of Living Art, had a great collection of reptiles, amphibians, and more. I like viewing these creatures as long as there is glass between them and me.
Other than the animals that are gone during the construction, the zoo had most of the usual suspects. Highlights included another baby Asian Elephant, Giraffes, a very active Hippopotamus, a Coyote, and a nice collection of apes.
This is another zoo I want to return to after their construction project is finished.
