Often one doesn’t realize how many wonderful attractions are right at home. I’ve lived in Iowa all of my life, and in Des Moines for about 15 years, and this was only my second visit to the Des Moines Art Center. It’s collection rivals any museum in cities of comparable size.

Unfortunately for me, an early morning rain storm closed one of the main galleries. But fortunately, there were many treasures still available.
