ACADIAN CULTURAL CENTER - LAFAYETTE

501 Fisher Rd, Lafayette, LA 70508

“Free Cajun history museum with artifacts, an educational film shown every hour & a gift shop.” – Google

While researching the area I kept seeing references to Acadians and Acadiana.  The Acadians, or Cajuns, were originally French people who settled in Nova Scotia, Canada.  The Acadian Cultural Center - Lafayette, one unit of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve Louisiana, uses museum-like exhibits and a 30-minute film to tell the story of how the Acadians were expelled from Canada and then came to inhabit and thrive in southern Louisiana.  The exhibits showcase the customs, language, and contemporary culture of the Acadian people.
